Founded in March 2011 by Georgia Court — a former IBM systems engineer, newspaper columnist, and university writing instructor — Bookstore1Sarasota anchors downtown's literary scene at 117 S. Pineapple Ave. The shop hosts author events that have drawn Billy Collins, Stephen King, and John Grisham, plus a Banned Book Club, poetry mics, and a local author book fair.
